Another year behind us and a new year just beginning. Where do I even begin to sing praises to the LORD? He has brought us through the drought and sustained us, guided us, and blessed us with being “poor.” I cherish the unbelievable seasons of teaching. He has taught me, that richness doesn’t dwell in money or with what you have. Rather it dwells in Him and the family you are blessed with and the time that you take to grow together through good or bad, for better or worse. Love unconditionally. How the Father loves, we are so imperfect, covered by sin, yet those glimpses He gives to us of the unconditional love are treasures. He is Faithful!!
A few weeks ago my mom and I were talking about this past year. All I could say was ” I saw the hand of God provide everything that was needed, not wanted.” He matured our relationships and stretched them and brought us closer to Him. Before Him. Laying everything before Him in prayer is so humbling and yet so fulfilling.
” Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on High..” Psalms 113:5

We wish the a very blessed and beautiful Christmas & New Year!
Graven On His Hands
Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands.
Isaiah 49:16
No doubt a part of the wonder that is concentrated in the word “Behold” is excited by the unbelieving lamentation of the preceding sentence. Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me, and my God has forgotten me.” How amazed the divine mind seems to be at this wicked unbelief! What can be more astounding than the unfounded doubts and fears of God’s favored people? The Lord’s loving word of rebuke should make us blush; He cries, “How can I have forgotten thee when I have graven you upon the palms of My hands?” We do not know which to wonder most at; the faithfulness of God or the unbelief of His people. He keeps His promise a thousand times, and yet the next trial makes us doubt Him. He never fails, and yet we are as continually vexed with anxieties, molested with suspicions, and disturbed with fears. “Behold” is a word intended to excite admiration. Here, indeed, we have a theme for marveling. Heaven and earth may well be astonished that rebels should obtain so great a nearness to the heart of infinite love as to be written upon the palms of His hands. The name is there, but that is not all; ” I have graven your person, your image, your case, your circumstances, your sins, your temptations, your weaknesses, your wants, your works; I have graven you, everything about you, all that concerns you; I have put you altogether there.” Will you ever say again that God has forsaken you when He has graven you upon His own palms?

We made it through the ice storm safe and snug as a bug in a rug. We did lose power for almost a full day. Thankfully it was in the late evening when the power went out. It was quite funny how it all happened. During dinner on Tuesday night ( after the storm passed and was done) I thought to myself how the power had not gone out and probably wouldn’t. After dinner we went to turn off some music in the living room and as soon as we did the power went out. Pretty amazing, huh? Okay so maybe you would have to have been there. We lit the fireplaces, dragged or shoved a mattress down to the basement, in front of the fireplace, just in case it got too cold in the bedrooms, which it did by 5am the next morning. And headed off to bed nice and early. I can not complain, we were very blessed to have our power restored quickly by some amazing and hard working linemen by the next afternoon. I overheard a gentleman in the store today say that he didn’t expect his power on until the 22nd. WOW! We truly are blessed and the Lord heard our prayers. Thank you for your prayers as well! Truly! Now tonight we are in for a huge snow storm. My dad arrived home from Tennessee just in time for Snow!!
I did finish my cooking on Monday night and I took lots of pictures of the yummy food. My spiced up manicotti was a hit! I was quite surprised. I was in a bit of a daring mood of cooking, so in went a bunch of daring ingredients. Try banana bread with flax seeds, chocolate chips and wheat germ. Ohh……I loved it. Or the manicotti with feta, and provolone cheese. Most of the ingredients I added to it ended with the word cheese…..lots of cheese!
By the way… If you live anywhere near or in the area of Washington D.C. and are military The Melting Pot has 20% off every monday night for military apprciation night. Ohh…just imagine fondue……chocolate……cheese……fruit……..bread…..meat…….seafood……now I am hungry……bad…….bad…….bad……

So far, for past two day’s we have been cooking up a storm of food for this “blessed” ice storm. Two inches by tomorrow night they are saying. Yikes.. I am so thankful we have one working fireplace….. I would appreciate all of your prayers during this ice storm. This will be my first big ice storm I have been through…….yes some of you might wonder, but it’s true.
We have 5 meals marked off our list so far: Cabbage roll sauce with turkey and rice, chicken and potatoes, boiled eggs, oatmeal cookies ( because what would a storm be with cookies! ), & vegetable pizza. Food yet to make: stuffed manicotti, chocolate pudding ( can’t be with chocolate either!), banana bread, mock sour cream dip, turkey or chicken sandwiches with cheese. Plus the enormous amount of food I bought for snacks today, triscuts, life cereal, chips ( for dips of course), food for the little guys, and to much more!
So I am off now to wash up dinner dishes, start the laundry again, maybe light a fire, put on a good movie and listen to it rain.
